Is my child likely to qualify?

EIDBI stands for Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention. It is a Minnesota Health Care Programs benefit that covers treatment for people under 21 with autism spectrum disorder or a related condition, including the evaluation, individual treatment planning, direct intervention, caregiver training and care coordination.

Broadly: a person under 21 who is enrolled in Minnesota Health Care Programs and has a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder or a related condition. Eligibility is formally confirmed through the Comprehensive Multi-Disciplinary Evaluation. On a free consultation we can tell you quite quickly whether your child is likely to qualify.

A qualifying diagnosis is part of EIDBI eligibility, but please do not let its absence stop you from calling. If your child does not have one yet, we will explain how the diagnostic step and the CMDE fit together and help you work out the right order to do things in.

There is no standard number, and you should be wary of anyone who quotes one before meeting your child. The CMDE recommends a service type and intensity based on individual need, and that recommendation drives authorized hours.

Not at all. School services and EIDBI address different things and regularly run alongside each other. A coordinated care conference exists precisely so your school team and therapy team work from the same goals rather than two competing plans.

Eligible EIDBI services can be delivered by secure video. It works especially well for caregiver training, care conferences and progress reviews, and it keeps care going through illness, bad weather or travel.
